2010 Outings

In September of 2010 I took my two month old filly, Connor to school for a project. Ultimately, the project was to bring an object in and tie to back to a job in the Agricultural world. Instantly I knew what I wanted to bring in, Connor, my two month old dwarf filly. I just didn't know what job I wanted to talk about though. Before class started I decided to talk about the testing (or lack thereof) of dwarves. I then said that I wanted to become a part of the research program and help produce a test for dwarfism.

When class started I began to show off Connor. She took the experience like a pro. She let my entire class crowd around her and pet her. Connor didn't even take any notice to the marching band that was playing in the background a football field away. Before too long I began to notice another class come up to see us, the Life Skills class which has students with a different variety of disabilities. I let the students pet and become accustomed to Connor, who was loving all over them. One student, a boy with Down Syndrome pet Connor and re-named her Tractor. That moment was one that changed my entire life.

In December we decided to take Connor to our local Winter Parade. My mom and I designed an outfit for Connor, and took her to the local town square. Connor was definitley the most popular spectacle of the night. Little kids walked up to see her and to take pictures. Connor of course was content to just eat grass and be pet. Our picture was taken by the paper, and Connor was able to pose with Santa!
